Mya’s first year is already half way over. It really is hard to remember life before this sweet little girl arrived, but it also feels like just yesterday that we were headed to the hospital. Time moves way too fast!
Sleep has been all over the place this past month. She had nights, when she was waking up every 1-2 hours, and more recently she has been sleeping 5-7 hour stretches. Let’s hope the later continues.
I think the crazy mix of sleep was due to a couple things. First, she has been developing a lot. She is getting much better control of her arms, and she is finally able to sit up on her own. She topples over occasionally, but she is generally pretty good at sitting. Second, Mya had her first ear infection. She was basically up all night. I took her to the doctor the next day, and it was a double ear infection, with her left about to rupture….poor girl!
The arm control and sitting has allowed us to start on some solids. We are trying a new approach with Mya called Baby Led Weaning. Basically we give her what we are eating, and skip the purees. We have to be careful of obvious choking hazards and potential allergies, but other than that, we can give her soft chunks of food, that she can explore and learn about.
Her first food was banana. She mainly mushed it.
Next she had some mango, watermelon, avocado and spinach. She hasn’t eaten too much, but at this point, it’s more about the exploring than anything.
Mya still loves Bryson. She loves watching him walk up the stairs and laughs every time he does this. She also gets super excited at meals, because she is now sitting close to him, and can just basically watch him the whole time.
Mya – you are such a happy, sweet, smiley little girl. We love you so much!
