After 10 and a half months of not working, I am headed back. 🙁 What a blessing it has been to be home with the kids for almost a year. Going back is going to be a big transition! I will definitely miss being able to spend every waking moment with these 2. Fortunately, I am only going back 3 days per week (Tue, Wed, and Thu), so hopefully this will allow for a good balance.
There are going to be some things I don’t miss…changing dirty diapers, constantly trying to keep the house clean, temper tantrums, etc. But there will also be a ton more that I will miss…seeing Mya’s smiling face all day, holding her while she naps, comforting Bryson when he gets hurt or upset, reading books and snuggling on the couch, listening to Bryson’s goofy stories, and the list goes on and on.
We did have an awesome maternity leave doing a TON of fun stuff. S ome of our favorite activities were:
- Numerous visits to the zoo, Kings Island, Pogo Play and Recreational Outlet
- Story times and library visits
- Play dates
- Farmers Market
- Touch a truck
- Volunteering at church and Moms Group
- Going for walks and to the park
I think Bryson will love going to preschool at day care and having a little more structure in his day. He also loves to play and interact with other kids, so that will definitely help him.
It’s going to be a little tougher for Mya and me. The most Mya has been away from me is probably 4 hours with a babysitter while we were away at a wedding. She’s still not taking a bottle and her naps are pretty inconsistent, so maybe day care will be able to help with these things, but I think it’s going to be rough for the first couple weeks. I hope she doesn’t get too upset that I’m not around when she needs me. 🙁
And for me, there are days when I’m ready to go back and many days when I’m really happy being home with the kids. I guess we will see how the next few weeks go. Hopefully I won’t miss these sweet little ones too much (or vice versa)!
