Thanksgiving Time

It all started on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving when we left our house to drive all the way to Chicago to visit Ellen, Larry, and my parents.  The drive was not too bad, but it was still a very long drive with kids.  We stopped at a McDonald’s for lunch and then continued. The traffic wasn’t that bad either so we’ll mark it up as a win.

We arrived at Ellen’s house a bit before they got back from Home Depot, so we tried to open the garage, but had no luck.  We ended up going to get back into the van, since it was a bit chilly.  They arrived from having bought a snow blower and Christmas tree.  They opened the garage and let us go in.  Their house is a nice 4 bedroom 2.5 bath house.  Bryson loved running around the circular path of the downstairs, and Mya was interested in everything.

We settled in and had some dinner and then went to bed.  Bryson does not share the bed well.  We woke up early the next day to run in the Annual Turkey Trot 5k in Naperville.  It was a brisk 23 degrees.  We drove to the high school and walked our way with Bryson in full snow suit and Mya in the Ergo under my coat.  I walked the race with my mom, dad, and Mya.  Ellen and Larry jogged.  Mo ran it all and then came back to meet us!

We then returned back to Ellen’s house to get Mya a nap and shower up for the Felicelli Thanksgiving party.  We headed out to my Aunt Judy’s house where the party was.  Bryson met both the giant dog (Newman) and his 2nd cousins (Harrison and Grace). It took a bit of warming up but he eventually befriended Harrison and followed him everywhere as well as doing everything he did. Mya got to meet everyone and even her great grandma Betty (GG). It was a fun time even though there was no stuffed shells, but there was lasagna.

The next day Mya was noticeably under the weather but we went downtown Naperville to look at the painted trains and then warm up in a running store.  Then we found some store windows with some cars/trains/roller coasters in them which Bryson loved.  We ended up at a lunch stir-fry place where you pick everything that goes in your bowl of food.  Mya was not feeling it.

We came home and let Mya take another nap while Ellen, Larry, and my parents go shop a bit.  They came home and we started to assemble a gingerbread house.  Although many of the candies were eaten there were still plenty for the house.  I believe it turned out quite awesome due to the icing master of yours truly.  Ellen had some great detail work at the end, and Mo had some great ideas that led to the finished product.

We ended the day with a nice dinner and putting a sick Mya to bed.

The next morning we were headed home, booo!  The travel home was just as uneventful.  Mya slept quite a bit as she was not feeling well and was very warm to the touch but no fever.  We went to Mo’s sisters new house and let Bryson and Abigail play a bit while we pick up Kizzie.  We ended up getting pizza at their house.  Bryson did not want to leave and they offered to have him sleep over.  We asked him, and he immediately said YES!

We told him we would be gone, and he would be there alone but that did not phase him.  He had a great time.  We went home with Mya.  Later that night at 1am Mya woke up and was super hot and would not settle down and the medicine was not helping so we called the doctor and then ended up going to the ER.  A short 4 hours later we were heading home with no more info than what we were doing.  I guess the did a deep suction of Mya’s nose but that’s all really, not worth the money.  After some rest we went to pick up Bryson and have lunch, and we asked him how it went and if he wanted to do it again.

He said “Abigail wouldn’t let me play with her toys, and she wouldn’t let me talk”.  He also did not want to do it again.  When asked about Abigail sleeping over at his house he said “She can come over but then she has to leave before it gets dark.”

Now Mya is on the mend and Bryson is recovered.  We are also recovered and getting back to normal.

Whew!
