Mya – 15 Months

Mya is now 15 months.  The biggest developments over the past month have all been around her vocabulary.  She’s saying somewhere between 5 to 10 words.  Her favorite things to say are probably “Dada”, “Kizzie”, “Uh-Oh” and “Buh-Bye”.  She also still loves to make animal sounds; monkey, dog, and cat are some of her favorites.

She says and signs “sit”.  If she sees a chair, she immediately walks over to it and lets us know she needs to sit in it.  She’s also signing drink, milk, eat, and a few other things.

Mya has some word (maybe choo-choo?), that she says any time she sees a car, train, bus, etc.  I’m not sure what she’s saying, but she gets really excited when she says it.

She also started saying “Papa” on Monday when Grandpa Slattery was visiting.  He got up to go the restroom, and she was calling “Papa” as loud as she could in the restaurant.  So cute!

I think she’s adding a new word almost every day or two.  She’s going to be talking our ears off in no time.

“Mama” is still very, rarely a part of her vocabulary.  The only time it really comes out is when she’s mad.  I still get lots of hugs / kisses, so I’m alright with the no-name treatment.  Mama will be here soon enough.

Other fun things this month are her mean face.  We ask her to do her mean face, and she squints her eyes and looks really serious.  This lasts for all of about 2 seconds and then she flashed the biggest, scrunchy nose smile.

She also loves dancing, waving to everyone, doing board puzzles, and reading books.  She will bring a book over to Nick or me, hand it to us, and then sit in our lap.  Mya has to be the one to turn the pages though, and it’s usually way too fast for us to actually be able to read the book, but it’s still fun to have her sitting/cuddling in our laps.

Mya had another ear infection, which we saw the doctor about on Monday.  Her sleep has been all over the place due to it.  I can tell it’s really bothering her, so hopefully the meds will kick in soon and help the infection go away.

One of Mya’s favorite things to do this month happens while I’m doing laundry.  She likes to grab handfuls of Kizzie’s food and throw it on the ground.  I always seem to forget about it, and then while I’m folding the laundry I hear the sprinkle of dog food flying all over the floor….great.  Thanks Mya!

Here’s another nice little mess she made.

This happened while I was getting the car ready to go.  She went in the pantry, and grabbed her own snack.  She loves to let us know what she would like to eat.  She’s usually not able to actual eat anything or make a mess, but on this occurrence, she did both.

One of her other cute moments this month, was when she could not sleep due to her ear infection.  I decided to bring her in to our bed, and see if she would be more comfortable sleeping there.  She didn’t fall asleep, but instead started waving to me and Nick.  She would get really close to our faces, and open and shut her hand, waving to us.  It was cute, even if Nick and I were both exhausted.
