Doctor’s Visits

We went to the doctor 3 times this previous week.  3 times!

The first visit was on Monday for Bryson.  He was sick after Brown County, with a fever and seal like cough throughout the night.  I thought he had croup, based on the awful sound of his cough.  At the visit, we found out that he also had a double ear infection.  Poor guy.  🙁  The doctor also said that he had a little bit of wheezing in the lungs when he was breathing, so she wasn’t sure if it was croup or not.  It could have been bronchitis.  She did some respiratory therapy for the little man.

He hated hit, but we got through it.  He got an inhaler that he needed to use for the next 24 hours, along with some antibiotics for his ears.

The next day was Mya’s 15 month “well check”.  We went in to see our normal doctor, Dr. Arar.  Mya also had a double ear infection, but was already on some medicine to clear up a previous ear infection, so the doctor said to just keep her on the same antibiotics.

We also started talking tubes, since this winter has been a mess with ear infections for both, and it looks like they are both going to be getting tubes in their ears.  Bryson’s second set.  Mya’s first.  Remember this post?  I’m not looking forward to both kids going in for surgery, even though it did help Bryson out tremendously.

Everything else at Mya’s “well check” went well.  🙂  Her 15 month stats are below:

  • Weight:  21 lbs, 14 ozs (60th percentile)
  • Height:  32 inches (90th percentile)
  • Head circumference:  46.6 cms

Dr. Arar also said Mya is ahead of the curve in her speech and development, since she is saying about 8-10 words currently.  She also noticed that Mya is aggressive and likes rough play.  I will give full credit of this to her having an older brother.  She also commented how Mya is not shy, and how she has quite the little personality.

Friday we went back to the doctor, because Mya was still fussy and her sleep was all over the place.  The doctor checked her ears and her lungs, and said they both looked okay.  I’m happy that her ears were finally healing!  Maybe she’s just teething?  Either way, I’m ready for this whole family to get healthy.  Nick and I have been sick as well all week with head colds.  Surely the warm weather coming (hopefully soon) will help!
