Well today is a big day. It’s Mother’s Day, Mya turns 17 months, and it’s the day before both Mya and Bryson go in for tubes.
Let’s start with the good stuff. Mother’s day is always a special day. It’s a chance to relax a little and celebrate being a Mom. I love being a Mom, but let’s face it, it can be exhausting. So today, Nick and the kids made me breakfast, we went on a long walk to “Coffee Please”, and we are heading to dinner at Cooper’s Hawk. I’d say that’s a pretty good day! There may even be some time this afternoon to play outside in the yard, and possibly run through the sprinkler. Days like these are the best!
Mya also turns 17 months today. Whew! Her personality is coming through more and more over the past month. She is turning into quite the opinionated, sweet, but sassy, little girl.
Her favorite words are anything that begins with a B…balloon, banana, blackberry, Bryson, bye-bye, etc. Maybe she likes the B sound so much, because we say Bryson’s name A TON. Balloons are probably her favorite new thing though. She may be a little obsessed with them. Any time she sees one, she points it out and says, “Balloon, Balloon, Balloon!” over and over again. It’s adorable. This has happened at Kroger, out to dinner, and even at Target, where she saw a balloon on one of their in-store signs. She loves them.
Other words that Mya says now are socks, with a strong pronunciation on the “ck” sound. She kind of sounds like she’s speaking German when she says it. She has also started saying “No”. At first it was a very sweet, little “Nu”, and now she is starting to say it with a little more meaning. Mya also loves to say, “Owwww.” I think she may have picked this up at daycare, because any time anyone pushes her or gets in her space a little bit, she screams “OOOOOWWWW!” It’s a little dramatic, but pretty darn cute all at the same time.
Mya has also been developing physically. She loves to dance, and she can now run. She loves to walk around, and let’s us know when she wants down from our arms. This usually happens at the grocery store or other places, where she can run around and get into things.
When I’m holding Mya, she also likes to push me in the direction she wants me to go. If she wants to go over to the sink, she will grab my arms and try to pull or push me in that direction. Most of the time it works, so I guess she will keep on doing it.
A couple cute moments this month happened twice when we picked her up from Kids Club at church. She always has a lot of fun at Kids Club (after the initial drop-off), and it’s always fun to see what she’s doing or playing with when we head back to pick her up. One time, Mya saw us coming to pick her up, and she got a huge grin on her face, said “Whhheeeww” excitedly and ran over a couple kids to get to us. Another time, we went to pick her up, and she was rocking like crazy on a rocking horse. This girl is going to be an adventure seeker.

17 months have flown by. Mya has filled our life with so much joy and laughter. We love you so much little girl!
Remember this post from 2 years ago? Tomorrow, both Mya and Bryson go to Children’s Hospital for tubes. It scares me to think that anything could happen to them during the procedure. I’ll be praying that everything goes well and that the recovery is quick and without complication. The tubes definitely helped Bryson out, so hopefully they well help him again, and Mya will see some relief from her ear infections too. We’ll see if this Mama can get any sleep on Mother’s Day. I guess we’ll see…
