A Visit to Colorado

It’s been a crazy 2 weeks.  Packing, travelling. then unpacking for a trip with 2 little kids is a ton of work.  We got to do this twice in the past 2 weeks.  When you throw in a 4th Birthday, things go from super busy to crazy.  I’m going to try to catch up on some blogging over the next few days, but no promises.

First, let’s start with our visit to Colorado.  We headed out to visit Grandma and Papa Feli on July 22nd.  There were 2 reasons for our visit: (1) we hadn’t been out to visit the Felicelli’s since before Mya was born and (2) Master’s Nationals for Ultimate was being played in Aurora, CO that weekend.

So, let’s start with the fun stuff, the airplane ride.  This was the first time Bryson had his own seat on the airplane.  It was also Mya’s first airplane trip.  We came prepared on the way out with dinner for on the plane, a bunch of new $1 toys from Target, and suckers.

The kids did awesome, and we didn’t even have to use the iPad – our reserve in case things really started to get crazy.  Bryson was a little nervous, but he was very brave and held Daddy’s hand on the flight.  As we were landing, he kept saying, “steady, steady, steady”.  I think he got this from the Disney movie Planes.  It was really cute!

Mya and Bryson quickly adjusted to Colorado time, since they stayed up until 9 PM (11 PM EST) on the first night.  On Thursday, we visited a park in Loveland, rode a train, and played in water in the Felicelli’s backyard.  Bryson and Mya loved helping water all the plants in Grandma’s garden.

On Friday and Saturday, we headed to Aurora.  I played on the women’s master’s team from the Great Lakes – Hot Flash.  It was a really fun team, and we had some really close games.  We went 2 – 4 on the weekend, finishing 15th out of 16 teams.

I felt extremely old playing ultimate, but had a lot of fun getting to play with some of my teammates from previous teams.  Bryson and Mya liked hanging out at the fields, dancing with my team, and jumping in the bounce house that USA Ultimate had at the fields.

Sunday we headed to a water park in Loveland.  Byrson and Mya both loved it!  I think this may have been the highlight of the trip for Bryson.  There was a cute Farmer’s Market, and Bryson got to wade in some cold water, which Grandma Feli informed him was from the melting snow in the mountains.  He was super excited by this too.

It was a really fun trip, and hopefully we can make it out there again soon.  I know the kids (and big kids alike) had an amazing time!
