Landon Andrew Felicelli

He has arrived!  Landon Andrew Felicelli is here!!!IMG_5596

Landon was born on Sunday, June 12th, 2016 at 2:18AM.  He weighed 9 pounds, 3 ounces and was 21 inches long.  You were one big boy!!!  This was the first picture taken of you, right after you were born:IMG_0943

You came into this world fast, as I expected you might.  Here’s a quick summary of your birth story:

I had been having back pain on and off throughout most of Saturday.  Some kind of felt like contractions, but they weren’t strong enough or close enough together to really be concerned, so we went about the day as we normally would.  I took a nice nap in the afternoon, we went to church, went out to dinner, then came home.

After Nick put the kids to bed (around 9pm), I started to time the back pains and they were coming for about 30-40 seconds, 10-15 minutes apart.  I had had some of these early, so I still wasn’t too concerned.

I kept timing them, but they weren’t really getting longer, stronger, or closer together.  I texted Erin, just in case and told her to be ready.  Nick got everything loaded in the car…just in case.  Then the contractions lightened up a little, so I just told Nick and Erin (around 10pm) they must be Braxton Hicks, so they both went to bed.

I tried to go to bed too, but they were bothering me too much to sleep.  I timed them again, and they were down to like 8-10 minutes apart, and feeling a little stronger.  At 11:30 I called my doctor, told Erin we needed her, and told Nick we should probably go to the hospital.  They were about 6 minutes apart at that point.

Erin got down to our house around 12:30 and then we headed to the hospital, getting there around 1am.  We had a longish wait to get in the actual building (maybe like 10 minutes), then headed up to triage.  I was hoping that I was at least 5cm.

The nurse checked me and said, “you’re 9cm, and I can feel a bulging bag of waters”.  I told her that was the best news I heard all day.  🙂   She got me in a room quickly, called the doctor, and said if the water broke, it would be all over.  This was good news!  They quickly got an IV port in me, and I was able to labor however I wanted….a huge change vs what happened with Mya.

Dr. Bowen got there in time, and after I was fully dilated, he broke my water right around 2am.  I tried pushing while leaning against the back of the bed that was propped up.  I then switched to side lying and after a few good pushes, you were born!  Your head came out first, then I had to push a little more to get your shoulders out.  You were a BIG boy!  I fell in love immediately with your wrinkly body and squishy face!

We had a list of about 9 names, but Nick and I both decided Landon was the one for you.  It took us a little longer to get your middle name, but finally decided on Andrew, even though it wasn’t on our initial list.

We got basically no sleep the first night, but it was so worth it.  You nursed right away, like a champ, and haven’t really stopped since.

Bryson and Mya were both so excited to meet you.  Mya kept saying, “I’m a big sister!” and then she kept asking your name, because she couldn’t remember it.

IMG_0956 IMG_0968 We stayed at the hospital another 2 nights, so that we could catch up on some sleep.  This was a good choice, because your first night at home was rough – you didn’t want to sleep in the pack-n-play.  Second night was much better, with you sleeping from 9pm-8:30 am and only waking up twice.

Let’s keep that up, so we aren’t all super tired all the time!

IMG_5593We are so blessed to have you in this family.  I love you so, so much!  I can’t wait to see your little personality start to come through, but for now, I am going to enjoy all these quiet times and baby snuggles, because I will know this time will go by far too quickly.

Welcome Landon!  You are already so, so, so loved!!!IMG_1004
