This past weekend, we went to Columbus for the Mill Race Marathon and for a Corn Maze Beer Fest.
The kids participated in the Mill Race Kids’ Fun Runs on Friday evening. Unfortunately on our way to the race, Landon got sick in the car. He puked all over himself and the car seat. Nick did a quick clean-up, and we thought maybe it was just because he ate too much. We put one of Bryson’s shirts on Landon, because that’s all we had, and took him to the shade for the race. Well then, he puked on Nick, so Nick headed back to Grandma and Grandpa with the sick kiddo to give him a bath.
Bryson and Mya participated in their first race. This was definitely a proud mom moment! Mya ran first. Her race was .31 miles. She could choose to run the lag with a parent or on her own. To my surprise, she opted for on her own (well with Claire). She did great! She ran almost the whole way.
Bryson ran with Patrick, and got to run .62 miles. They walked most of it, but had a heated race going on between the two of them. I’m not sure who won, but they were definitely sweaty by the end and seemed to have fun.
Friday night was a little rough, with Landon up puking / dry heaving most of the night (sounds like Clifty Falls 2 months ago).
Saturday morning, I got up early to run the Mill Race 5k. It was hot, especially for end of September. My race went okay. I was shooting for about 8:45 pace. I ended up above that, and my watch marked the race as 3.26 miles. I thought it went alright. Much to my surprise, when I went to get my race results, I finished 4th out of 71 in my age group. Woohoo! That was a nice surprise!
My dad did the half marathon, and we stayed to cheer him on. He broke 10 minutes in one mile – WALKING! He did great and was within a couple minutes of a PR.
Saturday afternoon, Brian, Nick and I were planning to go to a Corn Maze Beef Fest, but with Landon being sick, I offered to stay back with him. Nick and Brian went to the beer fest, tried quite a few beers, and came back a little intoxicated. It seemed like they had fun.
Fortunately Landon didn’t puke anymore, and we came home to watch our old frisbee team, Steamboat, qualify for Nationals. That was a fun end to a fun weekend!
