Landon is now well past the 18 month mark. This prior month has been busy, with Landon having an ear infection during basically the whole month of December. He had 3 round of antibiotics, and the ear infection was still there, so then he got a shot of antibiotics to help clear up the ear infection. That finally worked, which was confirmed in his well check today.
The ear infections have made Landon pretty clingy over the past month, which makes it tough to get anything done when he is awake. He wants to be held basically all the time; I guess the thrill of walking has worn off of him. He has really become a bit of a mama’s boy, and loves being held specifically by me. If I leave the room, he tends to get upset. And I must do his bedtime when I am home. If I’m home and Nick is doing Landon’s bedtime routine, he screams the entire time, because he wants me.
Landon has also become much more opinionated. During bedtime, he refuses to read any books but his Tonka truck book. I was reading him a different book, and he came over, took the book from my hands, put it back on the shelf, and handed me the Tonka truck book. To say this kid likes trucks/cars/planes is an understatement. He loves them!
He also loves to play peekaboo, chase, and race cars on the Hot Wheels track. He loves when Grandma Slattery comes to visit, and gives her a giant hug every time he sees her. Landon also loves rough play, and recently started jumping falling off the couch into our arms. He also loves to be hung upside down, and ride on our knees to the Rocket Ship song.
Landon is saying quite a few words. Some of his favorites are: night night, please, good girl, milk, wa wa (water), car, truck, and no. He tries to repeat almost anything we ask him to. His first 2 syllable word was Kizzie on 10/27.
Stats from Landon’s 18 month appointment are below:
- Height: 31.85 inches (13th percentile)
- Weight: 23.85 pounds (21st percentile)
- Head Circumference: 18 inches (53rd percentile)
Dr. Demarco is a little concerned about Landon’s growth and he is also slightly anemic, so these may be related. We are going to keep an eye on it, and see how he does over the next few months.
Despite being small, Landon is a pretty good eater. He loves fruit (oranges, pears, blueberries), cheesy eggs, French fries, and always wants “dip” (ketchup, ranch, hot sauce, etc.). He also recently started liking mac and cheese. Landon tends to find something he loves during the meal and sticks with it. He has also been super excited to get his hidden M&M out of the advent calendar.
Landon’s sleep is overall pretty good. He now sleeps on a cot in daycare. He will still fall asleep in the car on long trips, which is good. He usually gets a solid one nap per day, for 1-2 hours. He goes to bed without a fuss, and usually only wakes up one time to nurse, which we are going to work on soon.
Landon is our smiley, happy, little guy, who is showing us more and more of his sweet little personality every day. We love you so much, Bugs!
