Happy 9 months Mya! The past month has been full of developmental milestones….
- Very early in the month, she started crawling. She very quickly learned how to crawl to a toy, pick it up, and then go back into sitting, so that she could play with the toy. She also loves to crawl to both me and Nick and crawl into our laps. It’s super cute!
- She started saying consonant sounds. First it was “Mama“, but only when she was angry. Then she started saying “Dadadadada“. At first, we thought it was in context, but then we realized that she was calling everything Dadadada.
- On 8/24, her first tooth started to poke through. It’s her bottom right tooth, and she is working on a few more too. The doctor said she can feel the top 4 coming through, and she may have Dracula teeth if the canine teeth come through first. I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
- Mya has also started clapping. She tends to clap a ton when she’s eating, i.e. when she gets food in her mouth. I guess she’s pretty proud of herself.
- She has also started pulling up on everything! She pulls up in her crib, on baby gates, on the couch, on Mommy and Daddy. She’s done a little cruising, but not too much. I have a feeling this girl is going to be a climber and one who gets into everything!
Her stats from her doctor’s appointment today are below:
- Weight: 18 lbs, 10 ozs (60th percentile)
- Height: 29 inches (95th percentile)
- Head circumference: 44.3 cms (75th percentile)
Mya had another ear infection this past month. She was sleeping pretty well (waking up consistently 2 times per night, nursing, then going right back to sleep), but then the ear infection had her waking up a bunch, and her sleep got all messed up. Plus with her crawling and sitting now, she tends to sit up in her crib and then not know how to lay back down, so we have to go in and lay her down. I’m hoping things get better over the next month, before I have to go back to work….fingers crossed!
Naps are still all over the place. She usually gets one in the morning, and then one in the afternoon, but half the time I have to hold her….it’s rough. 😉
One of my favorite things this month is when Mya falls asleep on me for naps, she tends to like sitting up rather than laying down. It allows for some pretty awesome snuggling, even though I can’t really get much done while this is happening. It’s still precious, and I know one day this will be one of the many things I miss.
Mya – you are such a sweet, little lady. We love you so much!
