Current Loves/Pain Points

The other day, Nick and I were talking about how Bryson used to poop in his diaper every night after we put him to bed.  Every night for a couple months!  We would lay him down, he would poop and then minutes later fall asleep, we would have to sneak in, change him, and put him back into bed without him waking up.  This happened every night, but I had almost forgot about this.  During that time, this was such a pain point for us.  It passed, and we almost forgot about how crazy that time was.

In 20 years, when I’m longing for the days when my babies were little, I’m sure it will be tough to remember all the little things, like secret-mission-middle-of-the-night-diaper-changes.  Here’s a quick list of some of the things about these years that I love and some of the things that are little pain points.  20-year-from-now-Mo….enjoy this!

LOVES:

  • their explorative little minds
  • nursing and snuggling Mya
  • family meals (which we’re normally all together for, since we aren’t caught up in many extracurricular activities…yet!)
  • watching Bryson figure something out (how to count, letters, etc.)
  • Mya’s sweet little smiley face when she wakes up from her naps (she’s always so happy)
  • Bryson relating the spelling of his name to everything (he asks us how to spell all different words, then gets excited when what we spell has a letter from his name.  ex. B – “how do you spell car?”  M – “C-A-R”  B – “my name has an R in it too!)
  • Mya laying her head down on anything soft (stuffed animals, the carpet, blankets…she loves to snuggle)
  • 2 on 1 snack time with Bryson (he loves having Mommy and Daddy all to himself after Mya goes to sleep)
  • Mya crawling to us and pulling up on our legs, because she wants to be held

PAIN POINTS:

  • Bryson having very selective listening
  • Mya pinching skin (it’s just the tiniest bit, between her fingers, which she loves to roll around, but man does it hurt!)
  • not having slept through the night for over a year
  • whining!
  • mood swings (one minute they are happy as can be, the next minute they are both screaming/crying)
  • the amount of time it takes to go anywhere (getting pottied/diapers changed, in the car seats, throw in winter coats/hats, and it can take a good 20 minutes just to get out the door)

I try to keep a positive attitude and focus on the good things, knowing that the pain points too will pass.  Fortunately, there are a LOT of good things to focus on with these 2 munchkins!
