Mya – 2.5 years (a little late)

Mya is 2.5 years old (plus a month).  I’m a little late at getting to this post, but it’s been a busy month!IMG_4919Mya is a joy to be around (the vast majority of the time).  She has her moments of frustration, anger, etc, but as far as 2 year olds go and the “terrible 2’s”, I can not complain.  Mya has so many fabulous qualities.

One thing that I think has really helped, is that we have been working on her feelings.  We are trying to help her identify if she is mad, angry, sad, happy, or any other feeling, and put them in words.  She has really started to catch on to this, and has told us when she is angry or sad.  The next part is trying to understand what is making her feel that way and help her figure out what we can do to make it better.  This is the tough part, as she sometimes shuts down at that point.  We are working on it though. She is also good at noticing when others are upset.  On a few occasions she has come to me with the sweetest list voice and said, “Mommy are you sad?”  This is usually followed by her rubbing my arm and saying, “It’s Okay.”  This is when my hear melts…so sweet!

Mya is also my big helper.  She loves to help with Landon – everything from diaper changes to nursing (well at least she tries to help me).  She also helps around the house by wiping the table, sweeping the floor, etc.  She is a big helper!IMG_5826-e1468428354470She is still a pretty good eater, and she will try almost anything.  She prefers carbs, fruits, and sweets.  This girl can smell chocolate from a mile away.  There’s no hiding it from Mya!

She’s not a big fan of getting wet.  Sprinklers are not her thing, but she does love the pool.  If her clothes even get slightly wet (from washing hands, eating lunch, etc.), she want to change her clothes.  At one point, we were going through 3 or more outfits a day….way too much laundry!  Now it’s usually just 1-2 outfits a day.IMG_0653

Mya has also developed a little bit of a stutter, which I guess is pretty normal in toddlers.  She sometimes stutters on her first word for 5-10 seconds.  I think her mind is just thinking too fast, and she can’t communicate her thoughts fast enough.

Another favorite of Mya’s is anything related to art.  She loves stickers, painting, coloring, drawing, play-doh, and cutting up paper.  If you give her a sticker book, she can sit and play with it forever (or at least 20 minutes, which feels like forever for a Toddler’s attention span).IMG_0425

Mya is such a sweet, sympathetic, loving, little girl.  We love you so much!  Happy 2.5 years (plus a month)!!!
