Mya is 3!

Mya turned 3 years old on the 10th.  Happy birthday, Mya!We celebrated by doing something Mya has been wanting to do for a long time…get her ears pierced.  We told her that it would hurt just a little bit, but after that it would be all done.  She had her mind made up that she was getting them pierced.

We went to Claire’s, and Mya chose rainbow flower earrings.  She sat patiently in the chair, and we didn’t have to do any coaxing or calming her.  She just patiently waited.  There was even a guy helping her, and she was okay with that.  Usually she isn’t real comfortable around guys.  She held on to one of the stuffed animals from the store.

Both ears were pierced at the same time.  (This was to avoid what happened when I got mine pierced when I was little – a long walk around the mall to calm me down before getting the second ear pierced.)

Mya cried for about 30 seconds after they pierced them, but then she got a purple sucker, and everything was better.  Check out the video below:

Mya was so brave, decisive, and determined.  I loved seeing this side of her!

I also loved getting to see her be the center of attention on her birthday.  She loved all the presents, including a new bike, doll, and tons of arts and crafts – her favorites!

We had a pink cake – Mya’s choice.  She actually only ate a bite of it, but loved the ice cream.

It was fun to have a little celebration with the Parks and Grandma and Grandpa (or cram-pa as Mya says).

Mya loves Landon and Bryson – most of the time.  When she is upset, she now says, “I don’t like Bryson.”  Even if Bryson had nothing to do with it, this is her way of saying she’s upset.  She loves to play pretend with her doll house, color, read books, and snuggle.

Mya also likes to mimic my facial expressions.  If I tell her something, she watches my face to see if she should be happy, excited, sad, etc.  She then makes the same facial expression as me.  It’s super cute.

Mya loves to choose her own clothes, and 95% of the time, she wants to wear a dress.  She hates being in a hurry.  She is a big helper, and she loves swimming and her swim lessons.

She is still a pretty good eater, but lately, she has been holding out for things she really likes, and then filling up on those – fruit, bread, pasta, etc.  She isn’t crazy about vegetables, but she will try just about anything.Mya’s stats from her 3 year appointment are below:

  • Height: 38 inches (74th percentile)
  • Weight: 31 lbs (54th percentile)

Happy 3rd birthday to our sweet, kind, brave, caring, patient, passionate, decisive Mya! We are so lucky to be your parents.  I hope someday, you realize what a huge blessing you are to us.  We love you so much little lady!

Oh, and below are Mya’s pictures from JCPenney.  I think they turned out pretty well, especially considering she doesn’t like smiling on command.
