Mya – 3.5 Years Old

Mya is now 3.5 years old.  Hello three-nager!

Mya is our little girly-girl, and I love it.  She only wears dresses, and the twirly-er/pinker, the better. She loves to dress up in her princess dresses.  She also loves getting her nails painted and having her in braids or a pony tail.  She also likes to take the braids out and see her hair wavy.  Head bands are a must.  She wears them so often (even to bed), that sometimes she just forgets she is even wearing one.  Like at bath time, we often have to remind her to take her head band off.

Mya has her own opinion about everything, and she is still very decisive.  This girl knows what she likes and what she doesn’t.  When things don’t go the way she wants them to, she whines, and whines, and whines.  That is probably the most frustrating bad habit right now.  We are working on it.

I think Mya just really feels and cares about things deeply, and doesn’t know how to express her feelings in words.  I can’t blame her though; I don’t know how to express my own feelings in words sometimes too!  It’s tough.

Mya is a pretty good eater.  She loves fruit, grilled cheese, mac & cheese, sweets and carbs.  She will try just about anything, and one of her favorite things to say is, “I like it, but I just don’t really like the flavor of it.”  She also likes salad, crab cakes, and coffee.  She has good taste if you ask me!

Sleep for Mya is pretty good. We still do quiet time in the afternoon, and she naps maybe 1 of the 7 days.  During the night, she was waking up (sometimes multiple times) and screaming for daddy or mommy.  When we went in, she would need her blankets fixed or have to ask us a question.  We introduced a sticker chart, and that has helped get her back on track for the most part.

Mya loves to swim,, and she still much prefers female teachers over males.  She is getting a little better about this though.  I love watching her jump into the water, with a huge belly flop and splash of excitement.  When she gets out, she immediately has to wipe her hair out of her face.  It’s the cutest.

She also loves anything art related, doing puzzles, and playing dollhouse / princesses.  Mya loves her brothers, but occasionally she gets a little rough with Landon.

She does not like to be the center of attention, as we learned at a recent dance class, when they had to do an individual dance across the floor.  She took the shortest route possible to the other side of the room.

Mya also has some quirky ways of saying things, like “inside-right-out” (if she needs her clothes turned right-side-out) and “favorite parts” (instead of private parts).

Mya has a huge heart and cares deeply.  I love to hear her pray out loud, and I hope we can foster in her that she is beautiful on the inside (not just the outside).  We love your kindness and helpful attitude.  Thank you for being such a blessing to us.  We love you more than you will ever know!
