Maybe I just need to do monthly updates on the blog? It feels like life has been moving at an unprecedented pace lately. We have been busy! Here is a recap of the past (busy) month!
On Oct 27th, Bryson’s class took a field trip to the police and fire station. I got to go with him. Bryson got to see a tazer in action, and immediately hit the ground when the officer demonstrated the noise. It was loud! He also got to go into the holding cell, which was pretty cool.
Immediately after the field trip, we left for Michigan to visit the Sajdaks at their new lake house in Saugatuck. On our drive up, we planned to stop at Portillos in Fishers, IN. This was a birthday request from Nick. Portillos had just opened the week before, so the line wrapped around the restaurant to the door. Despite the wait, we still had fun, and the kids enjoyed the cheese fries, hot dogs, and strawberry shortcake.

We had a fun time in Michigan, hanging out at the new house, meeting baby Carter, carving a pumpkin, and having a costume parade around the house.

We also made a quick stop by Tunnel Park, because the kids wanted to see Lake Michigan. It was super cold and windy! Bryson really wanted to touch the water, but it was a little too chilly. Maybe next time? Bryson and Marin also ran / butt scooted down a huge sand dune. Mya wanted nothing to do with that.
The trip home went relatively well, and the following week was Halloween. We carved pumpkins Monday night.

Tuesday night we went trick-or-treating. This year, we had a red power ranger, a mermaid, and a cow. We had family plans to be a farmer and farm animals, but that fell through when the kids saw the costumes at Costco. Oh well, 3/5 of the family went with the theme. The kids trick-or-treated for almost an hour and a half. They got a ton of candy!

On Friday (11/3), we headed to Colorado to visit Grandma and Papa Feli. This was Landon’s first time flying. He has been really interested in airplanes lately, so he was a pretty happy guy at the airport. He also loved riding on the train and buses that took us around the airport.
Despite a little bit of car seat confusion and another infant in our row during the flight out there, the kids did well. Landon fell asleep during the flight, which helped.

Saturday, we went for a long hike in the foothills. Bryson hiked the whole 4 miles. He even made it to the top of the hill, where there was a damn and an area that said do not enter, due to snakes. Eek!

We had a picnic lunch. Bryson named every big rock formation, and wanted to take pictures of all of them. Landon was tuckered out by the end, and fell asleep in the carrier.

On Sunday (11/4), we went to the Fort Collins Children’s Museum. The kids had a ton of fun there.

Nick and I got to go to a couple breweries in Loveland, which was fun. Grimm Brothers Brewery was okay, but we liked Loveland Ale Works much better.
Monday, we flew home, and the trip home went well. Landon fell asleep on the plane again. I think he was worn out from all the Colorado adventures.
On 11/7, Bryson had “donuts with dad” at school.

On Saturday, 11/11, we surprised my mom with a dinner at Maggianos for her 65th birthday. She thought it was just going to be her and Dad, but when she showed up all her kids and grand-kids were there. I think she was pretty happy with the surprise. The kids all chowed down on the brownie sundae. They were like vultures!
On 11/20, Bryson had his Thanksgiving celebration at school with songs, popcorn, muffins, and a craft.

We hosted Thanksgiving this year, complete with 2 turkeys (one in the oven and one deep fried). It was a great day, with family, fun and food.

Now on to Christmas…I think we may have another busy month ahead!
